This\nbecomes a problem when creating a volume from an image, where the source\nRBD image may have a larger stripe unit than cinder\u0027s RBD driver is\nconfigured for.  When this happens, clone() is called with a stripe unit\nthat is too small given that of the source image and the clone fails.\n\nThe RBD driver in Cinder has a configuration parameter\n\u0027rbd_store_chunk_size\u0027 that stores the preferred object size for cloned\nimages.  If clone() is called without a stripe_unit passed in, the\nstripe unit defaults to the object size, which is 4MB by default.  The\nissue arises when creating a volume from a Glance image, where Glance is\ncreating images with a default stripe unit of 8MB (distinctly larger\nthan that of Cinder).  If we do not consider the incoming stripe unit\nand select the larger of the two, Ceph cannot clone an RBD image with a\nsmaller stripe unit and raises an error.\n\nThis patch adds a function in our driver\u0027s clone logic to select the\nlarger of the two stripe unit values so that the appropriate stripe unit\nis chosen.\n\nIt should also be noted that we\u0027re determining the correct stripe unit,\nbut using the \u0027order\u0027 argument to clone().
