It is less of a problem on Ubuntu due to fewer unexpected changes made in the python-pip package; fedora tries to straddle the fence (by having symlinks pip-python and python-pip pointing to /usr/bin/pip) and would have been fine if not for the RHEL6 work-around get_pip_command() that only looked for is_fedora() rather than just RHEL6 where that particular problem lies.\n\nOne thing that will happen is the need for some of the RHEL6 work-arounds will go away once a modern setuptools and pip are in place, though it will probably take more hackery to get to that point.
