What if the machine has more than one SATA, SCSI or IDE disk controller? They will end up being named by default as /dev/sdX and this patch doesn\u0027t seem to handle that situation.\n\nPlus, saying that ir-vfd-dev always links to /dev/sdb is wrong, in Linux the names are complete arbritary, /dev/sdb can swap with /dev/sda on each boot [1] since those names are not persistent. That\u0027s the reason why we use labels in the first place, to not have to rely on the names.\n\n[1] https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html/Online_Storage_Reconfiguration_Guide/persistent_naming.html","commit_id":"63bf27c82ac1c0f1514e9a0f794e21360c0f4f74"},{"author":{"_account_id":6773,"name":"Lucas Alvares Gomes","email":"lucasagomes@gmail.com","username":"lucasagomes"},"change_message_id":"5d8d4bda8147bd7e0225c6b41ea6f4cc7b766b47","unresolved":false,"context_lines":[{"line_number":13,"context_line":"# /sys filesystem."},{"line_number":14,"context_line":"if [ ! -b \"/dev/sdb\" ]; then"},{"line_number":15,"context_line":" mknod /dev/sdb b 8 16"},{"line_number":16,"context_line":" mknod /dev/sdb1 b 8 17"},{"line_number":17,"context_line":" cd /dev/disk/by-label"},{"line_number":18,"context_line":" ln -s ../../sdb ir-vfd-dev"},{"line_number":19,"context_line":"fi"}],"source_content_type":"application/x-shellscript","patch_set":3,"id":"9a8ffd7b_abd5ce43","line":16,"in_reply_to":"ba8a016a_0b92a39f","updated":"2015-11-25 10:25:22.000000000","message":"Hi @Gary,\n\nI find it odd that ubuntu is pointing for a non-existent device.
