A lot of the discussion happened on the OpenStack Discuss Mailing list between March 2026 and May 2026; and continued in the OpenInfra PTG between Apr 20th and 24th 2026. None of the discussion objected to the creation of a pop up team. However, the community seemed to make two important points:\n\n- They would like for the Security SIG to be strengthened rather than taking resources away from it at a time when vulnerabilities are being found and patched at an overwhelming rate. Hopefully the pop up team will work in that direction.\n- They would like to avoid a \"boil the ocean\" effort. The pop up team should break their efforts into manageable chunks if they\u0027d like to engage with the wider community to get these addressed. It was acknowledged that the drivers of the team may not have the bandwidth to cover all OpenStack deliverables, but we hope having this pop up team will make it possible for others to join the effort and achieve goals cutting across the community.\n\n\nthere\u0027s currently no community goal defined, the pop up team has discussed this informally in various venues.
