This is setting up a third compute node with 'host2' and 'host3'.

The way it works is each compute service has two pieces that are related to the scheduling: the host and the node. The host is related to the service and the node is the host name reported by the virt driver. The 'fake.set_nodes()' call is faking what the compute service (via the virt driver) will return as its host name before we start it. If there is more than one name in the list, compute will pick the first one [1]. So in this case, compute service 'host3' will return 'host2' from its fake virt driver.

The scheduler uses the node names from the virt driver for seeing a list of nova-compute candidates. So it's important when we're starting multiple fake compute services that we make the node names different so the scheduler will consider more than one nova-compute.

So here, I don't see how this helps anything because this makes us have 1) compute with 'host1' 2) compute with 'host2' 3) another compute with 'host2'.

[1] https://github.com/openstack/nova/blob/28769f9/nova/compute/manager.py#L1801
Thanks - this helped a lot.

I still think that there may be something else going on here causing issues, but hopefully new patch based on your feedback will resolve most issues.
I am trying to understand exactly how these work, but I wasn't able to get this part passing a 100% without this.
c4aca465008c77c21e220b39c08b714c16d1f3e6"}]}
