Nothing about the container looks\nunhealthy to Kubernetes, so the pod is never restarted and keeps serving\nerrors until someone notices and deletes it. A transient problem while\nthe application is being imported, such as an unreachable database or a\ndependency that times out, is turned into a permanent one.\n\nSince the charts run uWSGI with lazy-apps, each worker imports the\napplication on its own, so this can affect only part of a pod. A pod\nwhose workers are only partly broken still passes its readiness probe\nand fails just the share of requests that reach a broken worker, which\nis harder to spot than a pod that is plainly down.\n\nThe need-app option (\"exit if no app can be loaded\") makes this an\nordinary container failure instead. The instance logs \"no app loaded.\nGAME OVER\" and exits, and Kubernetes restarts it with the usual backoff,\nwhich also gives the dependency time to recover. Verified with uWSGI\n2.0.31 that it triggers both when every worker fails to load and when\nonly some do, and that it does nothing when the application loads\nnormally.\n\nRefusing to start without an application is the long-standing advice for\nproduction uWSGI deployments, and these charts already follow the rest\nof it through master, enable-threads and die-on-term.
