We can help people find the right series for a given version of a library by pointing them to releases.o.o or building in some other support in the theme. So unless you\u0027re installing from packages and get an old version, it\u0027s supposed to work with whatever version of a cloud you have so that you don\u0027t have to know. That\u0027s different from something like oslo.config, where there may have been a feature added needed by a given version of the cloud you\u0027re deploying.\n\nSo, how would you know today which version of oslo.config works with a given version of a cloud? If you\u0027re not getting packages from your distro, where they have done that work for you, then you would go to releases.openstack.org and look at what versions were released as part of the series you care about. This change theoretically makes that *easier* because you could just go to the oslo.config docs and select the series from the version dropdown menu.\n\nMy vision for this is that we simplify our doc building so that we\u0027re publishing useful content under series, and let the releases website deal with mapping versions to series. We don\u0027t need to do that work everywhere, so let\u0027s do it where we have the data already. If we want to link the two together, we could add a link to the version menu with a title like \"Not sure what version you need?\" that goes to releases.o.o.
