discussion involving the TC.\n\nPart of the temsion is that many Python-based projects (including lots of our dependencies) develop against the latest available/supported versions of things and expect Linux distributions to package latest versions of their software once the distributions are able to support it. OpenStack, on the other hand, has been developing with the expectation that new versions of our software should be deployable on existing (even LTS) Linux distributions.\n\nThis worked fairly well for us when Python 2.x had mostly stabilized and we weren\u0027t trying to use 3.x yet, but upstream development on the interpreters and other dependencies we use has more recently outpaced the release process for the LTS distros to the point that the default interpreter version on e.g. RHEL 8 is now not new enough to run the latest versions of these projects.
