this function fails with\na uninitialized constant IPAddr::AddressFamilyError\nerror.\n\nThis can happen if you are for example running this\ncode from inside a Puppetserver that runs under JRuby\nthat has an older version of ipaddr.\n\nThis adds a check if one of the classes that was introduced\nto replace the ArgumentError exception is present and customizes\nthe exceptions we catch
