The problem with floats is that eg. 3.14 < 3.2 so you can't just a basic comparison, but convert to a string first (or other maths). Given that we have the intermediate string step and that the client.version is a string of the form 'v3' we may as well support that use case.

In python the typical way of doing version comparison is to compare tuples and this will be the documented way.

So necessary, i'm not sure. but there are already these formats supported and it's not hard to cover them all.
if this is part of the public API then it needs a docstring. It's not mentioned in any tutorial or how to use keystone.

It inherits HTTPClient (which made me think it was supposed to be a client) and then proceeds to construct HTTPClient objects whenever it needs to make network calls. This means that any information you provide to the client (original_ip, certificates, validation) is simply ignored.

It does the same was as previous reviews returning a dictionary keyed with version number to url, status, and

The last (non-trivial code) was from Feb 2012, and then a fix for bug 1136476 which seems to mean that it was broken since pretty much the beginning.

Generic Client also supports extension discovery. At this point this is a 2.0 API only feature, so it's not that generic.

This is not the function i really want public anyway. It's client.Client() and possibly available_clients that are the intent of this review.
