I did a previous patch which made the cache be keyed by region, but effectively from the user perspective the functionality would be exactly the same. Same with updating the cache automatically.\n\nSee this paste:\nhttp://paste.openstack.org/show/588870/\n\nOnly after explicitly asking for the new client would you get it in the new region. And in some cases keeping both clients sitting around might be useful to you (so you\u0027d give the new one a different name rather than replace).\n\nTo actually allow the client itself (the old reference you have) to change automatically would be either very painful (changes to the client libraries or objects internally), or require a wrapper class which itself is connected to the client cache and internally updated whenever the region_name is changed. Your client then would be a client_wrapper object, any function calls on it get passed along to the actual client with decorators that first check if the region is different and swap in the new client to call functions on. The problem now is that changing that client_manager.region_name values does nothing if you\u0027ve already created a client for the existing region.\n\nSure, I could import and use any of the pythonclient libraries or the openstackSDK directly and scope them to the right region, but that is extra work I\u0027d prefer not to have to do when the client_manager has all that built in and returns instances of the clients already. The only problem is that the caching pointlessly holds old versions of the clients once they are created.\n\nThis patch is specific to openstackclient, and making it easier to do custom multi-region
