This isn\u0027t an ideal solution. Nova has the ability to auto-confirm resizes (enabled via the \u0027[compute] resize_confirm_window\u0027 option). As such, this introduces the chance of a race between the client checking the server status and the server auto-confirming the resize.\n\nI\u0027ve been trying to think of other solutions. The first one that jumped to mind was to check that the host changed, but that won\u0027t work because you can cold migrate and resize to the same host if you enable \u0027[DEFAULT] allow_resize_to_same_host\u0027 or if your host reports the \u0027COMPUTE_SAME_HOST_COLD_MIGRATE\u0027 (for the cold migrate case only). A better option would be to poll the server migrations API (exposed via \u0027nova server-migration-list\u0027) or migrations API (exposed via \u0027nova migration-list\u0027). The latter is available longer so it might be wiser. The only issue for this would be that iirc migrations requests that are rejected early in the process are not recorded here. That should be okay though. You just wait for a given period for the migration to appear and if it doesn\u0027t, assume it has failed.\n\nThoughts? Would that approach work?
