container UPDATE
auto-sharding: send shard-ranges via container UPDATE

This is more of a POC. The idea is pretty straight forward.

Before this patch:
- a leader is determined to be the scanner node
- that node will then go scan for shard ranges.
- Once found, the scanner/leader asks via an all quorum if they're
 still the leader.
- If they are, then write the shard ranges into my DB and let
 replication spread them out.

This sounds great. But there is an edge case, what happens if the
replication fails? We can't roll back the shard ranges by removing
them locally because the container replicators in the meal while might
have already managed to push somewhere because of a network blip.

For example, what happens if replication is down for that node after writing
the ranges, or the server goes down for maintenence, and a rebalance
happens, and now this "leader" who has shard ranges is a handoff. But
will still offload it's ranges when back online. Even after another leader
has since been elected and replicated a different set of ranges.

This patch is trying solve that edge case by reducing that potentail gap
between the finding and inserting shard ranges locally and it's eventual
replication.
It does it by taking advantage of the "still leader" quorum. If it still
is the leader after finding shard ranges, it goes and updates the other
primaries using the new container UPDATE verb. So long as one of those
is successful, it's safe to write the shard ranges locally.
If all UPDATEs fail, the scanner safely throws away the ranges and will
have another go when the connection or whatever is back.

It in essence gives us a rollback without having to be smart with
replication locking (locking out the container-replicators) writing and
checking if we managed to replication in the sharder.

This is just a POC to test out the theory, just a possible solution.

The real question is, is the edgecase real? Or can we somehow just be
smarter in replication.

Change-Id: I39f07180ce7990702e4fdfe7e43f313781d7e7d3

"553d1d06bc74870309320b996600edc898a1cc05":
{"anonymous http":
git fetch https://review.opendev.org/openstack/swift refs/changes/50/672650/2 && git checkout FETCH_HEAD","Cherry Pick":"git fetch https://review.opendev.org/openstack/swift refs/changes/50/672650/2 && git cherry-pick FETCH_HEAD","Format Patch":"git fetch https://review.opendev.org/openstack/swift refs/changes/50/672650/2 && git format-patch -1 --stdout FETCH_HEAD
auto-sharding: send shard-ranges via container UPDATE

This is more of a POC. Even after another leader
has since been elected and replicated a different set of ranges.

This patch is trying solve that edge case by reducing that potential gap
between the finding and inserting shard ranges locally and it's eventual
replication.
It does it by taking advantage of the "still leader" quorum. If it still
is the leader after finding shard ranges, it goes and updates the other
primaries using the container UPDATE verb.

Change-Id: I39f07180ce7990702e4fdfe7e43f313781d7e7d3

"175960beeb3447ac62c33db85b5a6a2905adb787":
{"anonymous http":
git fetch https://review.opendev.org/openstack/swift refs/changes/50/672650/6 && git checkout FETCH_HEAD","Cherry Pick":"git fetch https://review.opendev.org/openstack/swift refs/changes/50/672650/6 && git cherry-pick FETCH_HEAD","Format Patch":"git fetch https://review.opendev.org/openstack/swift refs/changes/50/672650/6 && git format-patch -1 --stdout FETCH_HEAD
auto-sharding: send shard-ranges via container UPDATE

This is more of a POC.
