I have some further thoughts on this:\n\n1. Start with learning the technology (docs etc).\n2. Play with deployment guides.\n3. Contact PTL, introduce yourself, why you are interested and how you can best be helpful and get up to speed.\n4. Write doc bugs.\n5. Reviews - especially starting with docs (from reading above)\n6. Meetings, n/w, apply yourself to areas PTL has pointed you to.\n7. Emphasis - you are building your personal - but also trust within the community. Trust that your comments are valid, that you can write and review code, that you understand or have the willingness to understand the technology. Trust that you are consistent and reliable and come back regularly.\n8. Build up to more and more complex tasks as your experience grows.","commit_id":"889619d7ab7fba55f4af663da52bbe940e84c9f7"},{"author":{"_account_id":17765,"name":"Frank Kloeker","email":"f.kloeker@telekom.de","username":"eumel8"},"change_message_id":"28ca794d87f17d4e816507d75eb9b9730f81b586","unresolved":false,"context_lines":[{"line_number":51,"context_line":"- Help fix the documentation"},{"line_number":52,"context_line":"- Answer other\u0027s questions or help direct them to"},{"line_number":53,"context_line":" those who can"},{"line_number":54,"context_line":"- Attend the meetings"},{"line_number":55,"context_line":"- Let the PTL know you are interested in participating in the project"},{"line_number":56,"context_line":" - Ask how you can help the project"},{"line_number":57,"context_line":"- Build a network"}],"source_content_type":"text/x-rst","patch_set":1,"id":"3f4b6375_2320019b","line":54,"in_reply_to":"3f4b6375_25c36cef","updated":"2017-11-05 21:39:28.000000000","message":"I agree with the idea of introducing myself to the PTL. Anything else may be a bit much for a beginner. \nJust another idea: stay in touch. There is so much change in life. It is a good thing to communicate if I can no longer participate in the project for personal or professional reasons. We\u0027ve had it so often in the past. And it\u0027s acceptable if people communicate about it.","commit_id":"889619d7ab7fba55f4af663da52bbe940e84c9f7"},{"author":{"_account_id":7198,"name":"Jay Bryant","email":"jungleboyj@electronicjungle.net","username":"jsbryant"},"change_message_id":"34b6012e520c2d73a01fc90ea6b2bb699b242445","unresolved":false,"context_lines":[{"line_number":51,"context_line":"- Help fix the documentation"},{"line_number":52,"context_line":"- Answer other\u0027s questions or help direct them to"},{"line_number":53,"context_line":" those who can"},{"line_number":54,"context_line":"- Attend the meetings"},{"line_number":55,"context_line":"- Let the PTL know you are interested in participating in the project"},{"line_number":56,"context_line":" - Ask how you can help the project"},{"line_number":57,"context_line":"- Build a network"}],"source_content_type":"text/x-rst","patch_set":1,"id":"3f4b6375_25c36cef","line":54,"in_reply_to":"3f4b6375_e5b2f4e4","updated":"2017-11-05 03:02:11.000000000","message":"Ok.
