This is an awesome improvement. LGTM.

We don't get much in terms of execution-time savings, but the I/O savings are worth the effort.

Please take a look at [this](https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/trove/+/993305) MR. The asynchronous image-building process will increase the execution time by ~15 minutes.

So, in total, with Docker image preloading into the guest, we will save 15 + 15*N minutes, where N is the number of instances created during the test job run. For most jobs, this will reduce the execution time by half! I think that's a great achievement 😄

After the asynchronous image-building change is merged, we will be fully prepared for the pre-release Zuul stampede 😅
It's already warming up, btw.

_______________________

The last unresolved issue that I would like to address in CI is the `guest-log-collection` service. Rsyncing every 10 seconds consumes a lot of CPU and I/O resources. Another negative side effect of the current `guest-log-collection` implementation is that, on fast hardware, if a Nova instance is shut down very quickly, the collected logs may be incomplete.

But it's not critical; we can address it later. Right now we need to focus on completing tasks that are ready for review.
f5f2728eb6431d76c0d5705cc5fa3bff713444dc"}]}
